Rett syndrome is a rare genetic neurodevelopmental disorder that primarily affects females. This disorder causes a progressive loss of motor and speech skills. It is characterized by a gradual decline in motor and communication abilities. Early signs typically include reduced hand control and a diminished ability to crawl or walk. As it progresses, the muscles weaken and become rigid, resulting in abnormal postures and movements. In addition, children with this syndrome tend to lose the ability to speak, make eye contact, and communicate in other ways.<\/strong><\/p>

Although pregnancy and delivery for mothers of babies with Rett syndrome are usually uncomplicated, signs and symptoms begin to appear after the first six months of life. The most pronounced changes are generally observed between 12 and 18 months of age, over a period of weeks or months.<\/p>
